Plan, Act, Reflect, Repeat - Part 1 How to Start PLANNING

Posted by Catherine Conway on

Happy Nearly New Year !

Are you ready to take on 2019 or are you still, like me stuffing your face with after eights and cheese !

I'm not quite there yet but PLANNING is a big part of pushing any business forward so I find that this time of year can be quiet exciting as new ideas have time to form and we start putting things together ready to take action.

Truthfully, where ever you can! but if you do have something tangible from last year it is best to start there.  If NOT then start taking notes NOW.

Grab a page a day diary and scribble down you goals for January.

What are the TOP 3 THINGS that you can do in January that will make the most difference to your business?

Highlight this, underline this and then put little stars around it, as YES you do need to do these 3 jobs and not keep putting them on the back burner because they are too scary.

Next take a look at your business stats from January 2018 and make a note:

  • How many sales did you make and what was your profit
  • What were your social media numbers
  • How many people signed up to your Newsletter

Once you have done this, write next to it in a different colour next your targets for January 2019.

This just gives you focus, something to aim for.  Interestingly it really does work! We find that where ever we focus our attention this area begins to grow - as soon as we take our eye off the ball then things start to drop off.  FUNNY THAT.

That is it .. small steps towards the greater goal.

Now we have a question for you ....

Would you benefit from working and chatting with other like minded designers in a closed facebook group?  Practise things, ask those really silly embarrassing questions that we think we should know but don't and have someone that will hold you accountable when you don't do the things that you keep saying you will?  Comments would be greatly appreciated - tell us how we can help you and we will do our best to find a solution.
